How to Apply for an Apartment

1. Complete a housing apartment application
Download a graduate application form or undergraduate application form. Be sure to fill out the appropriate form.

2. Submit the application and $50 nonrefundable application fee
Mail to: Office of Housing and Residential Life, 5221 Gullen Mall, #598,, Detroit, MI 48202

Your application date will determine your placement in university housing; all apartments are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

The application and fee do not guarantee placement. You will be notified of an opening by mail when you are next on the list for an apartment.

3. Sign a lease for the apartment
At the lease signing you will pay your first month's rent and a security deposit (one month's rent).

Waiting List Information
Some apartment choices have longer waits than others. Sherbrooke has a limited number of apartments available and a lengthy waiting list. In considering your options, you may want to choose another building to increase your chances of receiving an apartment assignment.
