Room & Roommate Assignments

Room Assignments
Placement in the residence halls is based upon the following:

  • Submitted date indicated on the original application
  • Medical needs that are documented in the assignments office;
  • Academic class rank (freshmen receive first priority, then sophomores,
    etc.)
  • Applications and deposits received by May 1 will receive priority.

A contract for space will be sent to you after you have paid your deposit and submitted a completed application. Your deposit date determines your placement in the hall(s). A completed contract is necessary to receive an actual room assignment. Failure to return a completed contract will result in a loss of your deposit and a room assignment.

Waiting List
If you do not receive a room assignment based on the above criteria, you will be put on a waiting list. In the event that an opening occurs, you will be contacted by our office.

Roommate Assignments
We assign roommates based on information you provide on your application. You may also request a specific roommate as long as the request is mutual, in writing and received by the deadline date.

When you receive your room placement, you will also receive the name and phone number of your future roommate. We strongly encourage you to talk with your roommate and to coordinate who will bring what for the room.

Room Changes
The residence life staff is available to assist you in your transition to living in the residence hall. They will work with you to resolve any roommate difficulties including a room change if necessary. Room changes may not be made without prior approval of the director of Housing and Residential Life or his designee. For more information, contact your residence hall director.
