Q: How do I submit a maintenance request?

You are part of the maintenance team by being our eyes and ears. When a repair is needed, submit your request on WSUFixIt.com, and follow up with your RA to get the problem resolved.

Q: How do I load money for laundry?

It’s simple. On the WASHU app, funds can be added using OneCard dollars, a credit card or a debit card.

Q: Can the beds be lofted?

Yes, the beds in Thompson, Towers and Ghafari can be lofted.

Q: Are risers permitted?

In an effort to make your campus home as comfortable as possible, risers are permitted.

Q: What are the dimensions to the windows, bed, closet, desk and space under the bed?

Dimensions vary for each room. Feel free to take a personal tour of a room to get an idea of the dimensions.

Q: Are desk chairs provided in the rooms?

Yes, of course. Desk chairs are provided in residence halls and furnished apartments.

Q: How many electrical outlets are in a room or suite?

Powering up your gadgets and devices is important. At least two outlets per resident are available to keep you plugged in.

Q: Is there a maid to clean the room, and how will I dispose of trash?

Residents take pride in maintaining the cleanliness of their environment. While there is no maid service, trash chutes are conveniently on every floor, making it easier to keep things tidy.

Q: Are cleaning supplies and equipment provided?

Please bring your favorite feather duster and cleaning supplies as the university does not provide them.

 

What to Pack


Q: What should I bring and what can be left at home?

Q: Can I bring a mini fridge?

Yes, a small refrigerator is welcome to keep your water and snacks chilled.

Q: Should I bring a mattress?

No, there is no need. A mattress is provided for your sleeping comfort.

Q: Does my bathroom come with a shower curtain?

Shower curtains are not provided but you are certainly welcome to bring your own to enhance your bathroom’s décor.

 

Safety


Q: Why must I show my OneCard when I enter a resident hall or apartment building?

For security! Please, show your OneCard so that we know you live in that building. Furthermore, a mandatory OneCard presentation prevents people who don’t live there from entering.

Q: Do I need renters insurance to live on campus?

No, but it is encouraged. We do not have a 3rd party renters insurance to provide; students must find insurance independently.

 

Printers and Wi-Fi


Q: Should I bring a printer?

You can bring a printer. Also, there are printers in the buildings for you to use.

Q: Do the resident halls and apartment buildings have Wi-Fi or ethernet?

Yes, they have both. You will be well-connected.

 

Application process


Q: Why can’t I submit my application?

There are numerous reasons why your application won't submit. If you are having issues please call us at 313-577-2116 or email us at housing@wayne.edu.

Q: How can I tell what bed I have within a suite?

Individual rooms are labeled with an “A”, “B”, “C”, or “D”. Beds are labeled A/B or 1 and 2, and the A/1 bed is on the left side of the door and B/2 is on the right.

 

Roommates


Q: How can students become roommates?

Want to live with your bestie? You can either request to join the same room, or both roommates can email us to be manually assigned.

Q: How are students paired to be roommates in their room?

Unless a special request was made, answers that students provide on questionnaires are used to help pair roommates.

 

Campus parking for students and residents


Q: Can I have my car on campus?

All students including first-years can have their car on campus. You will have to purchase a parking pass for one of our structures. For more information please visit Parking & Transportation - Wayne State University.

 

Move-in and Move-out


Q: What if I need an early move-in date?

We understand that schedules can get complicated, and we want to help. Email housing@wayne.edu as soon as possible. An early move-in is not guaranteed but it may be possible. If you’re with a sport, reach out to your coach for move-in information.

Q: Can I move in during the undesignated time?

Yes, or any day/time after your designated time.

Q: How soon must I leave my apartment or room after graduation?


You have until the end of your hosuing agreement. However, late move-outs are available for students who are graduating.

Q: Is parking free during move-out days?

Yes, of course. When you’re packing to go, parking should not be a concern.

Q: What if I have a package delivered after I moved off campus?

Package will be delivered to Anthony Wayne Drive Apartments (address above). Please make sure to collect your packages promptly or they may be returned back to the sender.

 

Meal plans


Q: Are meal plans required for residents of Ghafari Hall, Towers Residential Suites, Chatsworth, Atchison Hall and The Thompson?

Yes, each student will select the meal plan that’s best for them. Thompson requires a meal plan for the first year.
