Self-selection process

Living in an on-campus residence hall or furnished apartment for an academic year? You get to participate in a self-selection process where you pick your building and room! This process has a few simple steps that vary by class-standing. Please check the timelines on this page to see important dates and deadlines that apply to you. After completing an application, make sure you regularly check your @wayne.edu email for reminders and next steps

Self-Selection update

For the 2020-21 academic year, in order to manage housing occupancy and work to mitigate COVID-19 concerns, Self-Selection closed on June 4. The Office of Housing & Residential Life will utilize your preferences submitted in the housing application to make a room assignment for you. You will be notified via your Wayne State email account when you have been assigned.

There may be an opportunity for a limited open room change period later in the summer. We will share more information to your WSU email as it becomes available.

Please Note: If you have opted into a living learning community or The Thompson, you will be assigned a room in that community. A representative from that community will reach out to you to place you into that community. Please do not continue with the self-selection process. If you choose to change your room or pick a room in self-selection, it may remove your assignment from the community.
