Warrior Welcome Crew

Housing & Residential Life is now accepting volunteers for Warrior Welcome Crew 2022!

WWC is a volunteer program where students, faculty, staff, and alumni work together to foster Warrior Pride and get students moved into their new home.  WWC 2022 will take place over three days (August 25, August 27, & August 28) to accommodate a welcoming and exciting move in for our first-year students and first-time to campus students.  WWC volunteers with a fall housing assignment can move in early on Wednesday, August 24, if their space is available.

Over the three move in days, we will have three shifts each day between 8AM - 6PM.  All volunteers will sign up for their shifts in advance on SignUp Genius during our virtual WWC Training hosted on Canvas.

Please register online to be a member of Warrior Welcome Crew here no later than Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 11:59PM.

WWC frequently asked questions

Do I have to carry heavy boxes?

Potentially!  Most of our volunteers for 2022 will be in charge of a one cart and helping only one student and their guest(s) at a time.

How many hours do I need to commit?

If you live on campus and are approved to move in early, we are asking for a minimum of two 4-hour shifts over the move in days.  Shifts should not be on the same day as they overlap each other.  If you do not live on campus, please volunteer as much as you'd like.

What do I get out of it?

The joy of welcoming new Warriors to our community! Plus some official WWC gear!

If I live on campus, can I move in early?

Yes! You must volunteer for a minimum of two- 4 hour shifts on two of the three days.  You can move into your fall assignment* on Wednesday, August 24 ahead of all other students.

*Please note you will only be able to move in early if your fall assignment is prepared and ready.  We will communicate this to you in advance, no later than Friday, August 19.

How will I know what to do?

There is required, asynchronous (self-paced) virtual training for all WWC Volunteers available Monday, August 8 - Sunday, August 21.  You will sign up for your shifts after you complete the first module.  Details on how to access this course will be provided after you register.

Where will I park when it's time to volunteer?

Parking will be available in Structure 2 or Structure 1 for volunteers during move in week.  If you have not cancelled your parking pass/deductions/access, you will be able to park in those areas.  If you have cancelled your parking pass/deductions/access, you will have to pay the daily rate for parking if you come for volunteering.

Can I register my student organization?

All volunteers must sign up individually, however, you can note on the application if you are with an organization and work to sign up for the same volunteer shifts.  If you are not able to sign up at the same time, please email us at housing@wayne.edu to help with organizing your group.  Please note that student organizations are not permitted to recruit at move in.

How do I sign up?

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please register here no later than Wednesday, August 17 at 11:59PM.
